Kenneth E. "KB" Brown Sr.

Brother Brown, a native of Beaufort SC, was initiated into the Fraternity in the summer of 1983 in the Beaufort Alumni Chapter. During his tenure in the fraternity he has served as Polemarch, Keeper of Exchequer, and Keeper of Records; he has also served as Guide Right Director/Kappa League Advisor in the Lowcountry for more than 37 years. Brother Brown graduated from Battery Creek High School and S.C. State University in 1977 and 1982, respectively. He’s bilingual in Spanish and enjoys playing the piano, swimming, and roller skating.

Brother Brown retired after 40 years of employment with the Wage & Investment Division of the Internal Revenue Service as a Senior Tax Consultant/Relationship Manager in Savannah, Ga. He has been employed with the Department of Treasury for more than 40 years in various capacities as Auditor, Revenue Agent, Anti-Money Laundering Tax Specialist, Certified Instructor, Acting Territory Manager for Georgia/Puerto Rico Territory and Columbia Territory. He has also served in the capacity as a volunteer in the Volunteer Return Preparation Program in the Low Country for more than 37 years.

Volunteering as a Youth Leader and Coordinator with the free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) has been the epitome of his career as a volunteer in the community. VITA provides free income tax assistance and Financial education and asset building for low-income, elderly, disabled, and non-English speaking taxpayers. Special classes are provided on basic, advance, and international tax law, including the commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Electronic filing or e-filing classes for those interested in working with computers are also held. 

He is a member of Tabernacle Baptist where he serves in the Deacon Ministry and Sunday School Van Ministry. He is married to Cynthia Maria Brown, a member of Beaufort Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc; they have two sons, Kenneth E. Brown, Jr.  of Beaufort and Willie Lawrence Brown, USAF, of Hampton , Virginia.

He’s is a "Life Member" and has been a member of Kappa Alpha Psi more than 38 years. He is the “Petitioner” for the Beaufort-Jasper Hilton Head Alumni Chartering in 2014. He served as Vice Polemarch for Beaufort-Jasper-Hilton Head Alumni during 2017-2019.   He currently serves as the Polemarch for the Chapter beginning June 21, 2021.   Brother Brown is also Guide Right Director, Emeritus for  the Chapter.
