Larry Sanders


Brother Sanders, a native of Knoxville, TN, was initiated into the Fraternity in the fall of 1963 in the Beta Phi Chapter at Knoxville College. He was #3 of the “Stepping 3” and has always been nicknamed “Huck”. While at KC he served as Chapter Polemarch for 3 years after being elected as a Neophyte. Upon Graduation in ‘68 he moved to Atlanta, GA, and began an active Alumni Fraternal career. Over a 50 year period he has held several elected leadership positions. Most notable as Sr. Vice Province Polemarch in the Northeastern Province where he became a Life Member at Province and Grand Chapter level and received the Province’s James M. Kidd Distinguished Service Award.

Brother Sanders began his professional career as a high school science teacher and multi sport coach at Tucker High in Dekalb County, Atlanta, Ga. After 2 years a major career change was necessary and he selected the lucrative Pharmaceutical industry where he had 30 years of achievements. From a top Medical Sales Representative in Atlanta, to a leading District Manager in Philadelphia and he retired on top in 2000 while serving as International Senior Marketing Director after taking US market leader CENTRUM (Multi Vitamin/mineral) to a global market share leading brand in 84 countries. 

Upon retirement in 2000 Brother Sanders pursued some international and domestic consulting projects and developed his love for photography into a professional/avocation while residing in the Philadelphia area with his wife Edwina (Eddie). When she retired in 2002, they made their permanent move to the low country and currently resided in Oldfield/Okatie where they have lived for over 10 years. 
Brother Sanders has four sons, Reggie, Randall, Roderick and Russell and six grandchildren. Larry and Eddie are both very active members of Church of the Palms United Methodist in Okatie and serve in leadership positions. Brother Sanders currently is serving his 3rd year as Lay Leader after serving 3 years as Chair of Church Council.

Brother Sanders loves to give back to the community and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Hilton Head Region Habitat for Humanity, Arts Center of Coastal Carolina and is Past Founding Board Member of the Greater Bluffton Chamber of Commerce where he now serves as an Advisor/Mentor.
